• What is Suave’s policy on animal testing?
Unilever, which manufactures Suave is committed to the elimination of animal testing. It is equally committed to consumer health and safety, and to the safety of its workforce and the environment. Where some testing is required by law or currently unavoidable, we aim to minimize the number of animals used.
In pursuit of these goals, Unilever on the one hand applies strict internal control procedures to ensure that animal testing is only carried out when no alternatives are available, and on the other hand invests in developing and applying alternative approaches to replace animal testing in safety assessments for consumer products.
By adopting this dual approach, we advance the elimination of animal testing and reduce the number of tests to the absolute minimum. We provide transparency both in the use of animals and in the progress made in developing alternative approaches.

• Where is the best place to buy my favorite Suave products?
Suave products are sold in mass merchandise stores, drug stores, supermarkets and club stores all over the country. Although we would like each of our products to be available in all stores, shelf space and consumer demand sometimes limit the number of items a retailer is willing to carry. • When I choose a certain shampoo should I get the matching conditioner?
It is a good idea to try out a pair of coordinating hair care products. Shampoo and conditioner duos are formulated to work together. The cleaning properties of the shampoo are balanced by the moisturizing properties of the conditioner, and their fragrances are compatible. • What does it mean when a product says Hypoallergenic?
Products labeled hypo-allergenic are designed to be gentle and non-irritating to sensitive skin (skin that may develop a reaction to ingredients in skin care products).
• Are Suave Products Kosher?
At this time, Suave products are NOT certified as Kosher.
• Will Suave donate product to my organization/charity?
As you can imagine, we receive thousands of requests for products and sponsorships throughout the year from many worthy organizations. Therefore, rather than reply to individual appeals, we send product regularly to major U.S. organizations, which in turn distribute these items to qualified agencies that service needy members of our communities. Although we would like to support all the commendable causes that are brought to our attention, we simply are unable to do so, and will not be able to accommodate your request at this time. • How can I get samples of Suave Products?
External marketing agencies conduct sampling programs for our company. Suave sets specific guidelines for the direct delivery of these samples. However, the consumers chosen to receive samples are selected by our agencies based on proprietary criteria.

Occasionally we will have special offers available on our website to those who are U.S. residents. Unilever web sites are created by our Brand Teams in conjunction with external agencies. It is our desire to make each site unique, informative, and entertaining.

Often times, non-Unilever sites may offer promotional items, samples, coupons, etc. for our products. However, we are not responsible in any way for the content on these sites nor can we ensure the validity of these offers..
• How can I receive coupons for Suave products?
We do not have a promotional program where we distribute free coupons or coupon booklets for our products. We suggest that you check your local newspapers and magazines, as we frequently offer cents-off coupons for many of our products.
• How long can I keep my Suave products and what’s the best way to store them?
Your Suave products remain at their optimum quality and freshness for at least 2 years when stored at room temperature.
• What are the differences between mousse, styling gel, spray-on gel and hairspray?
Mousse, styling gel and spray-on gel are styling products that are worked through the entire head to give hair form, shape and style and are most often used in wet/damp hair. Mousse has a lighter texture than gels so that it spreads easily through hair. Hairspray is used to maintain your hair style after it’s been dried and styled.
• What is the difference between a deodorant and an anti-perspirant?
While perspiration by itself does not have any odor, when it meets the bacteria that are always present on your skin, odor develops. A deodorant helps stop that odor, while an antiperspirant helps stop the perspiration itself. By preventing wetness, an anti-perspirant also acts as a deodorant. A deodorant, on the other hand, works by reducing body odor and has little or no anti-perspirant activity.
• Why do unscented products still have fragrance listed in the ingredients?
Unscented products are formulated for use by those who prefer products without perfumes. Our unscented products do contain a small amount of masking fragrance to neutralize the natural odors of ingredients used in products. Fragrance, therefore, is listed on the package ingredient statement.
• Do your products contain animal by-products?
Any Product Containing Glycerin and / or Stearic Acid contains animal by-products. Stearic acid comes from beef tallow and Glycerin may be either synthetic or natural which is derived from beef tallow or coconut.
• Do children really need special shampoos and conditioners?
To take the sting out of a youngster's shampoo, we suggest you select a tear-free formulation. If the product also contains a conditioner, it will save an extra step and deliver easier combing. • Since I color my hair, should I use a shampoo specifically made for color-treated hair?
Yes. Coloring can leave hair dry with loss of shine. Suave Shampoos and conditioners for color-treated hair offer formulations that help maintain the new color while also providing conditioning agents to help repair the hair strand and emollients to ensure moisture. • What is Suave’s policy on recycling and the environment?
Because we recognize the importance of preserving natural resources, Suave and Unilever are engaged in a series of programs designed to address a number of issues concerning the environment. These issues range from biodegradability to recycling. Our company actively participates in industry-wide coalitions and trade associations which are working toward solutions to solid waste problems. We have established a center devoted entirely to the development and testing of new packaging materials and concepts.
